About Us
Elizabeth Heppler started working in and around pianos as a child in her father's shop. Starting 'bench work' as a teenager in the early '90's, she progressed to tuning, and then more complete piano service. By the end of high school, she had also completed a correspondence course from the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology. Elizabeth passed the Piano Technicians Guild 's series of exams at 18, becoming one of the youngest Registered Piano Technicians in the country. Tuning pianos aurally or with a Verituner, Elizabeth provides piano service for many concerts, piano teachers, musicians, schools, and a large private clientele.
Over the last two decades, Elizabeth has traveled to regional and national seminars around the country, learning further skills from the best in the business. She also went to the Bösendorfer factory in Vienna, Austria, learning one-on-one from a master voicer. This training has been a benefit to local musicians and beginning piano students alike. Elizabeth believes that a piano should be a source of great musical enrichment, and loves bringing out that potential in the pianos she services. Aaron Heppler began working with pianos in 1999. Beginning with piano moving, he has worked in all aspects of the piano industry, including rebuilding and sales. A fascination with the inner workings of the piano lead to technical training with Elizabeth. Aaron became a Registered Piano Technician in 2006. He continues his education at seminars across the country, believing that he should learn something new all the time.
In 2015, Aaron attended the Piano Technicians Guild's 'Grand Action Regulation in 37 Steps', an intensive three-day course, learning how to increase action control, even out movement, maximize the dynamic range, and achieve the fastest possible speed of repetition. Dampp-Chaser, the piano humidity control manufacturer, has also designated both Aaron and Elizabeth as Certified Installers. Both firmly believe in the benefit of these systems, installing them in pianos all over SW Montana. Aaron is also a trained PianoDisc installer. With weeks of factory training, and many installations already completed, he can make almost any acoustic piano into a player. An earlier background in computers allows him to put these skills together in servicing modern player systems

Client Testimonials
Elizabeth and Aaron are top-notch piano tuners and technicians. Southwest Montana pianists are very fortunate to have them available to service their instruments. I know this because Elizabeth has kept my piano in superb condition for years. I teach piano lessons and use my piano much of the time since I retired from the Music Department of MSU Bozeman.

My piano, which I bought in the 1990s, has never sounded or played better than it does now.

Elizabeth and Aaron have kept my used baby grand in tip-top shape for several years. And they are always willing to accommodate my schedule. My piano and my family are very grateful.

We are very fortunate in Bozeman to have Heppler Piano to tune and maintain our instruments. The quality of their workmanship is truly outstanding. I would not entrust my Steinway Grand to anyone else.

I first met Aaron when my moving company refused to carry my parlor grand up the tile stairs to its new home. They left it parked on its side in my garage. When Aaron arrived, he immediately saw the problem and the solution and was able to get the piano into its appropriate place without further damage to it or to my new home.
The 88-year-old piano has been repaired, restrung, and thoroughly cleaned by Heppler Piano. Its tone quality has been returned to excellence, and they continue to maintain it for me at concert pitch. The Bozeman area is so lucky to have Aaron and Elizabeth's expertise for keeping our instruments in fine condition!

I have been a church pianist for many years and also play the piano in my own home for personal enjoyment and practice. Our church in Townsend, Montana enjoys a 7-foot grand piano kept in excellent tuning by the Hepplers as well as my home console piano. Both Aaron and Elizabeth are very professional, skilled and knowledgeable in their field. We have been very satisfied with their work over the past 4-5 years and would highly recommend their services.

I've known Elizabeth Heppler since 2005 when I purchased my Bosendorfer grand piano. I was very concerned since I had had bad experiences with local piano tuners. The Bosendorfer is a very expensive, complex piano and I felt that it required a trained technician familiar with it. Elizabeth and her husband Aaron are trained at the Bosendorfer factory in Vienna and are certified by them. I have had Elizabeth tuning my piano since I purchased it, and have been very satisfied. I would highly recommend her to anyone owning a Bosendorfer or any other piano.

It has been a privilege to have Elizabeth care for our piano. She has been very professional, courteous, and patient. She has also taken extra time to answer my questions. I trust her expertise, competence and judgement.
